US Congressman Charles Rangel and His Tangled Financial Condition

US Congressman Charles Rangel’s increasingly muddy financial dealings have compelled the New York Times editorial board to suggest he step aside from his uber-powerful Ways and Means chairmanship. So tangled is Rangel’s situation in fact, that he has been compelled to hire a forensic accounting firm to untangle this Gordian Knot of a mess. We at Patriot Games Radio concur with Wall Street Journal and the New York Times editorials: the tax code (which Rangel helps write) is way too complicated for anyone to understand. Nonetheless, ignorance of the law is no excuse and Rangel should in fact step aside in favor of someone who will usher in TRUE tax code reform: a flat tax rate of 5% with NO deductions.
