Enviro Police Bust Illegal Alien in Franklin!

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Soon after we moved to Massachusetts from Vermont, I noticed the brown patrol car cruising through our neighborhood, emblazoned with the words, “Environmental Police.”  Wow, I thought, even Vermont doesn’t have that; must be an idea from California, or maybe Canada.   I wondered what they did all day, and thought I’d better make sure not to have any illegal items in the recycling bins.

Now, after reading this item in the Milford Daily News, I realize that they are an essential partner in law enforcement in Massachusetts.   On Sunday, the environmental police patrolling in my own town of Franklin busted an illegal alien who was riding a dirt bike.   Kudos to them for following what should be standard practice for every cop who encounters a non-citizen, or potential non-citizen, who cannot provide evidence of lawful status — they called ICE (the federal agency responsible for enforcing immigration laws).  As it turned out, the offender was already wanted by ICE, and they came all the way out to Franklin to get him.

Unfortunately, far too many police departments think immigration status is none of their business, and do not bother checking with ICE, even though there is a 24/7 center set up for this purpose.  As a result, a large number of criminal aliens — rapists, drug dealers, gang members, and other thugs — can remain in the country to progress in their criminal career, at great expense to victims and taxpayers.  One example is the case of Marco Riz, in Providence.

I’m encouraged that the Mass. Environmental Police have not been corrupted by the wave of political correctness that has taken over so many U.S. law enforcement agencies.  But I am still wondering — what was it the offender did to attract their attention in the first place?  Riding without a helmet?  Eating potato chips that contained trans fats?  ;)

California Governor and Austro-American superhero was phenomenal in his speech on behalf of McCain-Palin. What do you think? I give this performance an “A+++”
